About Christine

Kia ora! I'm Christine, a māmā of three and a qualified home-based educator with Ahikā Childcare, welcoming a small group of tamariki into our family home on our dairy farm in rural Tokatoka, just south of Dargaville.

I believe childhood is something to be enjoyed, not rushed. Inspired by Te Whāriki and my experience as both a māmā and home educator, I create a warm, nature-rich environment where children feel safe, known and welcome, with the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Our days are guided by children's interests and filled with farm walks, caring for animals, baking, gardening, creative and sensory play, stories, messy adventures and the rich learning found in everyday moments.

I love following children's ideas and noticing where their curiosity takes us - whether that's building a cosy cubby, turning the mud kitchen into a café, following a trail of puddles, watching them persevere with a challenge, hearing the stories they create, noticing the changing seasons, or simply having the time to wonder.

If you're looking for a calm, nature-rich environment where your child can enjoy an unhurried childhood, build meaningful relationships and develop a strong sense of belonging, I'd love to connect.
